A lorry driver brought down a branch when he tried to squeeze through roadworks in Bapchild on Thursday, last week, but Paul Clark was not hurt and his lorry was only slightly damaged.

Mt Clark, from March in Cambridgeshire, was delivering cardboard boxes to a farm when he came across roadworks in School Lane at around 10am.

He said: “I was trying to avoid a tipper truck and I clipped a tree and it came down. I was very lucky – maybe I should do the Lottery now” he said.

Mr Clarke, who works for Rocma, waited an hour before Swale Council workmen came to remove the branch. A fire crew from Sittingbourne attended but were not needed.
