What is the position of the Parish Council with regards to the Northern Relief Road Proposals?

14 Feb 2010I’ve already had a few residents commenting on the position of the Parish Council, given that remarks made by the consultants and KCC employees during the consultation at Hempstead House would appear to have suggested that the Parish Council has accepted and fully supports the proposals as outlined. This is certainly not the case.
Whilst KCC officers have indeed met with the Parish Council and discussed the scheme, any remarks, questions or observations made by councillors during the meeting or since can not and do not represent any kind of formal position on the matter.
Yes we all may have individual opinions, but until we have spoken with residents and collated enough views we simply can not say what our take on the scheme will be, because it will ultimately be the collective concerns from all the residents we hear from.
I have also heard commentary suggesting that the Parish Council does not want the leg of the road that connects the scheme to the A2 near the fox and goose. Whilst we certainly have opinions on elements of the scheme, this I can assure you has never been one of them.
Until the proposal of this scheme the Parish Councils position was clearly in favour of the Northern Route, a position which ultimately we still support.
It is regrettable that KCC officers or their consultants should have made these comments and I will make that quite clear in due course.
