07 Oct 2010To say that I was astonished by the remarks made by Cllr Wright with regard to Stones Farm would be vastly understating my reaction.
Cllr Wright appears to have entirely misunderstood, both the key policy conditions of bringing Stones Farm forward and his own councils proposals.
It is a fact that the Council has proposed to use the land allocated as Public Open space to construct the road on if it is required. It is also a fact that the Council has chosen to ignore the Parish Councils view that additional land be set aside now in case this becomes a reality. Therefore there is no alternative but to reduce the Public Open space below 15 hectares, which is in direct conflict with the Councils Local Plan. This is a legal requirement, not simply a nice to have.
On the subject of the Northern Relief Road, Cllr Wright once again appears to know best, suggesting that Bapchild residents would welcome the road. Well if he actually bothered to ask residents he might discover that following KCC’s recent consultation where they concluded a massive 67% increase in traffic volumes along the A2 by 2026 largely as a result of joining the NRR to the A2, that many residents feel rather differently.
