Village Clean Up 2006
The village clean up day proved to be as popular as ever and we filled a couple of refuse freighters as well as the separate truck for metal goods.
Thankfully the rain held off until we had finished, which was just as well because besides making the job an unpleasant experience it adds significant extra weight to many items, and my arms and back are still aching now.
We did have one surprise when one of the refuse freighters shook violently for a moment and then the driver noticed that some quite serious damage had been sustained.
I would like to point out that while we were able to take most items, gas bottles, some building waste and some very large tree trucks had to be left because a) we didn’t fancy causing an explosion and b) some items would have jammed the crushing mechanism of the freighter.
