BAPCHILD AND TONGE W.I. had a very successful birthday party in February attended by guests from the Bredgar Group and friends. They were entertained by Mrs Ley Liberson who gave a most interesting talk "Home was a Boat".

At a well attended meeting in March there were reports from the Knitting Group which meets at Fox Hill and has now completed more blankets. A group of members had a fun day at Tonge playing Short Mat Bowls which was much enjoyed as was the visit on March 3rd to Marks and Spencers Canterbury to view and pass comments on their Autumn/Winter Collection. It was agreed that an entry be submitted to Sittingbourne Horticultural Show in June entitled "Tea with the Vicar".

A number of members are going to Folkestone for the Annual Council Meeting and at the end of April over 30 members are going to Canterbury College for lunch cooked and served by the students. Names were taken for a visit to Gore Farm Upchurch for a walk and tea and also for helpers at the Village Fete in June when teas are being provided and a Bric a Brac Stall organised by members. A note was made of anyone interested in a game of croquet.

The speaker in April is Mr. N. Goodman, the title being "One Gulp and its gone". May is the Resolution Meeting.

The W.I. meet every 3'd Thursday in the month at Bapchild Village Hall at 2.30 pm and visitors are always welcome. For more information please contact Alison Clark on 01795 472992 or Barbara Watson on 472848.
