The Speaker Dr. Roy Edney was unable to attend the July Meeting and his place was ably filled by Yvonne Ward whose talk was entitled " Over the pond and Down Under". This was about her one year trip to America on crutches, having been persuaded to go, and then on to Australia, a talk that was entertaining and amusing
Mrs Bray welcomed members to the April meeting. Mrs Monk was thanked for holding a coffee and tea afternoon and Mrs Williams for a knitting afternoon. Fifty squares have now been made and Mrs Kitchener will be sewing them into a blanket. Another knitting afternoon is scheduled on May 25th at Fox Hill.
The W.I. table at Borden Horticultural Show entitled ‘Calendar Girls’ got a first rosette but there were no other entries!! A coffee morning will be held on May 26th at Mrs Burleigh, 37 The Finches and names will be taken for an outing to Mount Ephraim Gardens on Wednesday 26th June.
Attention was drawn to the many events in the East Kent News, these included a Spring Walk at Pluckly on Wednesday May 11th, a visit to the Houses of Parliament, a luxury boat trip passing through the Thames Flood Barrier and onto Tower Bridge a few of the many outings on offer.
Mr Goodman then gave an extremely interesting and informative talk on fish. He brought with him a selection of fish telling us what to look form how to fillet and suggestions for cooking. His talk ended by telling us how lucky we are to live so close to a marvellous supply of fresh local fish of which we should take advantage.
The next meeting is on Thursday 19th at 2:30pm this will be the Resolutions Meeting and we shall be welcoming Mrs Jean Ambers. We are always delighted to welcome guests.
