The evening commenced with Richard Bush, chairman of the parish council, introducing everyone and then quickly followed with the launch of the Bapchild village website.

Parish councillor Andy Hudson who developed the site, gave a short presentation to demonstrate the facilities of the Content Management System which enables various groups within the village the ability to maintain their own areas of the site.

Following this those who attended were free to wander round the various stands which included the very popular Brian Lloyd from the local planning department of Swale Borough Council, who discussed matters such as the Northern Distributor Route and the development of the town centre.

Also from Swale Borough Council, Recycling Officer Peter Chegwidden answered questions and gave advise regarding the recycling scheme.

Sittingbourne Community College Project Manager - Jeff Rutt discussed the proposed development and expansion of the school and the impact on the local community.

Also in attendance were Kent Police Liaison Officer Lesley Hunt, Jacqui Blake from Neighbourhood Watch and Glynis Hills from Swale Housing as well as all the other members of the parish council who organised the event.

The evening was well attended by members of the village and even included the support of Councillor Don Jordan.

Andy Hudson said “I was delighted at the enthusiasm for the website and pleased to see villagers taking an interest in the other stands. I would like to thank Liz Trott and Carol Culver, fellow parish councillors, who put a great deal of effort into making this such a successful evening”
